Maj. Podgurski was born in Stuttgart, Bad Canstatt, West Germany.  She has been given the privilege of living in and visiting a multitude of areas and experiencing a variety of cultures.  When her parents, MSgt. Michael and Jimmy Huskey retired from the Air Force, Arkansas became their home.

Maj. Podgurski graduated from DeQueen High School, went on to college at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, where she earned a BBA in Marketing and Management.  The business world kept her busy for almost 20 years, and she experienced a variety of jobs that included: Accountant, Auditor, HR Manager, Payroll Manager, Personnel Manager, Office Manager, and Bookkeeper.  Around 2009, never quite satisfied, Maj. Podgurski, left the business world behind, and enrolled in the Non-Traditional Licensure Program, to earn her teaching certificate in High School Math.  Maj. Podgurski is currently retired from full-time employment and runs a small business for fun and gets to paint ceramics while she “works”.

Maj. Janice Podgurski is currently serving as the Commander for Fort Smith Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, as well as Assistant Director of Aerospace Education for the Arkansas Wing.  She has been involved with CAP since January 2018.

Maj. Podgurski has been involved with both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts but now calls Civil Air Patrol her home for voluntary expenditure of time.  She is a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, a member of the NRA, TWAW Gun club, and active in the Air Force Association.  She also spends volunteer time with Proverbs 31 Ministries and Good Morning Girls Bible Study.  Maj. Podgurski is married to MSgt Gary Podgurski, together they have four children, six grandchildren, 3 dogs and 3 cats.
